The Intertribal GIS Council no comments

The Intertribal GIS Council (IGC) is a national non-profit organization dedicated to promoting tribal self determination by improving management of geographic information and building intertribal communication networks. The IGC was established in 1993 to educate Native people and tribal organizations about the many useful applications of spatial data technologies such as Geographical Information Systems (GIS).
Since our meeting in Billings (7/01), there have been many changes at the IGC. Founder and Executive Director, Bill Northover resigned 2/02, and the Pendleton, Oregon office has closed. The IGC Board has been working on maintaining the viability of the IGC as a corporation, and hopes to continue along the successful path of implementing GIS Technologies throughout Indian Country envisioned as the goal of the IGC. Joining and participating in the IGC will go a long way in ensuring that goal. We are soliciting comments/suggestions from the membership as to the type of direction and services the IGC might be able to provide, that would benefit GIS users in Indian Country. Also, we need to know if your organization/office would be willing to be a participant in grants and/or projects the IGC might be able to secure through Federal and State funding opportunities. In the past, the IGC right to bare legs has acted in a technical support capacity between Tribes and government agencies to facilitate the flow of geo-spatial information.
Members ! Feel free to download the SURVEY page and return to us (via e-mail or regular mail) as soon as possible. All suggestions will be considered.
The re-structuring of the IGC has meant operational changes as well. Currently, we hope to maintain this web site and continue to host the Annual Conferences. This will allow the membership to maintain valuable professional contacts and “network” with other Tribal GIS professionals. Please feel free to CONTACT US with any questions.
Updates to the web site include: (in progress or Coming Soon!)
· On-line help desk, to post questions and solutions concerning GIS.
· Posting a monthly technical article about projects someone has been working on; the types of problems they encountered along the way and how those problems were solved. (Membership in-put strongly encouraged! Send us your articles!!)
· On-line job board for posting GIS related employment opportunities in Indian Country and elsewhere.
· Announcements of grants/funding available to tribes for GIS projects.

Workshop on Remote Sensing and GIS for Tribal Natural and Cultural Resources Management
Designed for Tribal Council Members, Environmental Protection, Natural and Cultural Resource Managers, Planners, Economic Development Staff, Attorneys, and Information Technology Personnel
Remote sensing is the science (and to some extent, art) of acquiring information about the Earth’s surface without actually being in contact with it. This information, when processed, analyzed, and integrated into the tribe’s geographic information system along with tribal histories, songs, stories, Max Burn and other information can be a powerful tool for tribal natural and cultural resources managers to identify and incorporate economic, environmental, recreational, geo-political, and cultural interests in their management and development plans and programs. This workshop will introduce participants to the technologies and the application to forestry, agriculture, mineral development, water resource management, and cultural resource protection. Workshop participants will get hands-on demonstrations of recent technologies.
· Graeme Aggett has been working in the Geospatial Sciences for twelve years. He graduated with a BSc. in physical geography from the University of Auckland (New Zealand) in 1994 with a solid background in remote sensing HGH and geographical information systems, tools he quickly recognized would offer new and exciting methods to characterize, examine and model physical systems and human impact on these. Studies at Graduate School in Auckland included remote sensing, GIS, geomorphology and hydrology. His dissertation work utilized GIS to develop a seismic hazard and risk assessment for Wellington City, New Zealand.
· Larry Conyers is an assistant professor in the Anthropology Department of the Denver University. He is also a principal in Geophysical Investigations Co., where he performs GPR surveys for an international clientele. Dr. Conyers is the lead author of Ground-Penetrating Radar: An Introduction to Archaeologists. He has done cultural surveys in Indian country and throughout the world.
· Rob Fenwick is a Product Specialist at Spatial Data Technologies, Inc. – A native Coloradoan, Rob received degrees in Biology and Marine Science in Florida. The Wonders of Argan Oil For Skin Care no comments
Any one can have healthy skin, one of best products is argan oil. The greatest skin care merchandise for wholesome skin are those that aim to supply total care for the maintenance and promotion of wholesome skin. All skin has issue sections. There isn’t any individual who’s born with perfectly organically healthy skin 100% of the time. Rather, those that crop up to have fantastic skin often are the ones who use the reliable items for healthy skin promotion.

One of the most misunderstood aspects of acquiring a skin product for wholesome skin is whether to purchase something that has a powerful name in the skin care industry or is being heavily promoted & bolstered as the best skin care product. This is a tricky question and one that doesn’t have a easy answer.
Often the skin care goods that are thought to be the finest goods for wholesome skin are individuals who try to carry a powerful reputation once their name has been well established in the market. They do not need to offer a great deal of promotional supplies to the public for the reason that most people already know them & already know that they’re popular for generating much of the finest skin care items in the world. There are occasions, however, when even the finest of the correct slip up a little bit & release a product that is not top quality. Ordinarily, those merchandise don’t stay out in circulation for exceptionally long & they are quickly pulled once public opinion has determined the product to be sub par. Then again, there is continually that risk when handling a skin care company that offers their items reliant on name alone.
When a brand new skin care company releases a product that they are endorsing as the finest skin care product for healthy skin, commonly they will do an incredibly heavy promotion period as a way to gain the public’s trust & offer buyers a excellent value for their merchandise. In quite a few cases, this has proven to be a somewhat profitable tactic & normally the product line turns out to be a widely known common household name in a somewhat short period of time. Promotion could continue for years after that original rush, although the fundamental original promotion period is a game of chance for each the consumer plus the company.
If the consumer risks their income on a brand new quality skin care product for wholesome skin plus the product turns out to be about as advantageous as rubbing alcohol, then they have not only wasted their income, but have contributed to the business’s ability to to start with grow. The company, having said that, had better be able to back up its claims. Once clients start shopping for the product decided by the promotional push, they are inevitably going to must plan for growth. If they plan for an assessed growth that would be accurate for the finest skin care products on the sector today, they need to hit that range. Otherwise, the company is likely to fold. They can only do this if they live up to their claims of selling the greatest skin care product on the market-place.
Skin Care The Greatest of Each Worlds
Since most healthy skin is achieved by making use of one or more quality skin care merchandise on the market-place for wholesome skin, commonly clients can find that sticking to seriously promoted merchandise together with popular name brand items can often be a winning bet. Once you find the finest skin care product for healthy skin that works well for you, then your search is over and you ought to not readily try new merchandise unless you are pretty well convinced that they’ve something that your current skin care line does not offer. Acquiring a newly released greatest skin care product on the market-place will need to be a fun experience that offers your skin a fresh glow, a wholesome balance, and makes you feel as though you’ve just discovered the most wonderful little secret on the world wide web.
The Rock Wraps Michael Bay’s ‘Pain And Gain’ In Today’s Twitter-Wood no comments
There’s no gain without the pain, right? Or at least that’s what Michael Bay’s latest project “Pain and Gain” tells us. Starring alongside Mark Wahlberg, is Dwyane “The Rock” Johnson and judging by his past career in WWE?and the fact that every single one of his muscles is probably the size of our head?he’s someone we would not want to cross. Especially since one of the set photos shows him cooking a hand on a grill. Better to stay on his safe, non-Hulk-like side, no?
But that set photo is one of the last we’ll see as The Rock just announced he wrapped filming in Miami today. “Pain and Gain” is a black comedy that follows a pair of bodybuilders who find themselves in an extortion ring and kidnapping plot that spirals way out of control.
When MTV News caught up with Michael Bay back in 2009 before the storyline was divulged, he said, “[It?s based on] a true story, and it’s very funny. It?s a dark comedy.” Quite a departure from his usual “Transformers” work, but since he hasn’t disappointed us yet, we’re having faith that the film will be highly entertaining.
Is “Pain and Gain” going to be on your list of films to see next year? Let us know in the comments and on Twitter!

‘Battleship’ Vs. ‘What To Expect’: Brooklyn Decker’s Double Feature no comments
If you have a thing for busty blondes, we suggest you pencil a double feature into your weekend plans, seeing as model-turned-actress Brooklyn Decker stars in not one, but two movies opening Friday: the blow-’em-up action flick “Battleship” and the pregnancy rom-com “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.”
In the Decker vs. Decker showdown, box-office analysts seem to agree that “Battleship” will sink “What to Expect,” though it’s unlikely either will unseat reigning superheroes of the cinema, “The Avengers,” who are eyeing their third first-place weekend. Nonetheless, having two films open on a single day is a neat distinction for the 25-year-old actress, though one that’s not as rare as you might think. Here are a cluster of stars who have pulled theatrical double-duty (or are set to):
James Franco
Nowadays, you can’t shake a stick at pop culture without James Franco fetching it, but back in the early aughts ? following the cancellation of the beloved “Freaks and Geeks” ? Franco wasn’t nearly so ubiquitous. Yet he still managed to star in two films opening May 3, 2002: “Spider-Man” and “Deuces Wild.” We probably don’t need to tell you which one snagged all the dollars at the box office that weekend.
Christian Kane
Big-name stars aren’t the only ones holding a pair. You may recognize Christian Kane from the TNT heist series “Leverage,” or you may know him from a duo of 2004 film roles. On October 8 of that year, he appeared in the film version of “Friday Night Lights” and the Queen Latifah/ Jimmy Fallon comedy “Taxi.”
Dakota Fanning
No one saw Dakota Fanning in two films opening February 6, 2009, technically speaking, but that’s only because one was animated. The pint-size actress flexed her supernatural skills in the action flick “Push,” while letting her vocals do all the work as the titular heroine of “Coraline.”
David Koechner
Another actor dabbling in both animation and live-action on a single release date is David Koechner. The “Anchorman” actor hit the pit crew in Will Ferrell’s “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby” and channeled his inner-animal as the voice of a coyote in the animated “Barnyard,” all on August 4, 2006.
Samuel L. Jackson
The most recent two-for-one special comes courtesy of the prolific Samuel L. Jackson, whose “Avengers” continues to hammer the competition. But did you know his crime drama “Meeting Evil” (based on the novel by Thomas Berger) also opened May 4? Yeah, we didn’t think so.
Channing Tatum
Maybe it’s a sign of the apocalypse (or, at the very least, a trend) that four actors had or will have two movies opening on the same day in 2012. Like Decker, Tatum is hitting nearly every demographic with his titillating twofer. On June 29, the 32-year-old will suit up as Duke for “G.I. Joe: Retaliation” and strip down as an exotic dancer for “Magic Mike.”
Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo DiCaprio’s Christmas present to America this year is himself. Twice over. The actor stars in two films opening December 25: “The Great Gatsby” and “Django Unchained.” Which one will egg-nog-fueled audiences choose to unwrap? Only Santa knows for sure.
Check out everything we’ve got on “Battleship” and “What to Expect When You’re Expecting.”

Oliver Cooper Wants You To Help Make Him The ‘Best Onscreen Dirtbag’ no comments
Hooray for Movie Awards season and the cutthroat competition between this year’s very deserving group of nominees! And although the majority of the nominations were snagged by some popular wizards, bridesmaids and tributes, there is plenty of Movie Awards love and Golden Popcorn to go around. Kinda.
Speaking of Movie Awards love, we have to give it up to first-time nominee Oliver Cooper for putting together this very clever campaign video and Facebook page.
“These are the nominees for Best Onscreen Dirtbag, but only one of them has a proven track record as a douchebag,” the ad begins. “He’s been called a crude, pushy creep, and ‘the most annoying movie character since Jar Jar Binks.’”
MTV News recently caught up with the Best Onscreen Dirtbag nominee to discuss his creative campaign efforts.
“I’m stoked. I’m putting all my hours in the campaign to win this Dirtbag award,” Cooper said. “My strategy is to talk to as many people as I can to win this thing. I’m traveling across the country,” he joked. “We don’t have much money right now, I’m taking Greyhound buses to different cities telling people why I should win.”
The “Project X” star went on to say that he’s going for strong word of mouth, as well as a few sympathy votes.
“We’re going to put up more videos and hopefully catch a following, get people onboard, who liked the movie or hated me,” he said. “There are probably more people that hated me.”
“I’m trying to gain as much weight, let myself go as much as possible,” he continued, speaking to how he’s getting ready for his big night on June 3. “I want people to really think of me as disgusting. ‘God that guy is despicable. How can he possibly be in movies?’”
Head over to MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote for your favorite flicks now! The 21st annual MTV Movie Awards air live Sunday, June 3, at 9 p.m. ET.

Raven-Symone: ‘My Sexual Orientation Is Mine’ no comments
Raven-Symoné has taken to Twitter to address a National Enquirer report that she is gay. The tabloid published a story this week that the “Sister Act” star is currently dating “America’s Next Top Model” contestant, AzMarie Livingston, and that they are living together in New York City.
According to sources, “Raven has lost almost 30 pounds, has done a whole image makeover, and now she is the star of ‘Sister Act’ on Broadway. She’s at a point now where she doesn’t care what her family thinks, and she’s in love with AzMarie. She’s a lesbian and wants to live that way.”
The tabloid further reports that the 26-year-old’s family does not approve of her lifestyle, however, “she told her parents she loves them, but her home — especially her bedroom — is nobody’s business, and she was not going to back down, so they needed to accept it, period.”
While Raven-Symoné neither confirmed nor denied the speculation on Friday, when she took to Twitter to open up about the rumor, she did make it clear that whatever she does in her personal life is her business.
“I’m living my PERSONAL life the way I’m happiest,” she tweeted. “I’m not one, in my 25 year career to disclose who I’m dating. and I shall not start now. My sexual orientation is mine, and the person I’m datings to know. I’m not one for a public display of my life.”
She continued that “however that is my right as a HUMAN BEing whether straight or gay. To tell or not to tell. As long as I’m not harming anyone. I am a light being made from love. And my career is the only thing I would like to put on display, not my personal life. Kisses!”

Kanye West Had To ‘Get Used To’ Big Kardashian Family no comments
Kanye West may seem like he’s already one of the Kardashians, but turns out it took him a minute to warm up to them. According to her sister Khloé, Kim’s beau initially experienced some shell shock when hanging with reality TV’s first family.
“He said, ‘I’m an only child; there’s, like, so many of you,’ ” Khloé recalled in a chat with Ryan Seacrest on Friday (May 18).
Fans will get to see Kanye warming up to the Kardashian crew themselves when E!’s “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” returns for another season on Sunday. But Khloé told Seacrest her husband, Lamar Odom, had similar trouble getting used to her very large family.
“I remember Lamar, at first it took him a minute to get used to us, but now Lamar loves it,” she said. “With Kanye I was like, ‘Why are you hiding in our pantry in my mom’s kitchen?’ And he’s like, ‘There’s just so many of you guys, and you guys are all so loud and friendly and talk.” And I’m like, ‘Get used to it buddy, because I like it.’ It’s just a lot at one time.”
Being an only child like Yeezy is added to his initial discomfort, but he isn’t the lone only child the Kardashians have welcomed.
“[My boyfriend] Scott [Disick] and Lamar are only children too,” Kourtney shared. “I think we attract only children. I don’t think [Kanye] knows what’s going on [when he hangs out with us]. Like, what we’re talking about, are we being serious? Is this a joke?”
The initial shock of the Kardashians seems to have worn off, though. Usmagazine.com spotted Kanye hanging out with Kim and her family at Kourtney’s May 12 baby shower. In one snapshot, a smiling Kanye sits next to Kim, who’s playing with her nephew and Kourtney’s son, Mason.
Khloé’s hubby, Lamar, has also apparently bonded with Yeezy. The pro baller even seems to have his sights set on the music industry. “Lamar raps to [Kanye] all the time. Kim is like, ‘You’re going to freak this guy out,’ ” Khloé said. “But it’s funny.”

‘Hyde Park On Hudson’ Trailer: Bill Murray Becomes FDR no comments
When you think of a king of England and a president of the United States your mind rarely travels to outdoor barbeques and jumping in pools, but that’s just what goes on in the “Hyde Park on Hudson” trailer?and Bill Murray lights up portraying Franklin D. Roosevelt.
While the film is based around real events, we’re not sure how historically accurate the movie will turn out, but watching Murray take on the charm and gentle mannerisms of America’s 32nd President is a jolly ol’ delight.
Check out the first trailer below, and learn more about “Hyde Park on Hudson” after the jump!
Before 1939, no reigning king of England had ever visited America. But that summer FDR and his wife Eleanor (Olivia Williams) host the royals at their home in Hyde Park on Hudson, an estate in upstate New York. As war with Germany looms in the distance for Great Britain, the King is hoping the holiday will lead to the President’s support. But the weekend gets a little out of hand as his loved ones conspire to make it a memorable one.
The visit is narrated by Franklin’s distant cousin and cherished friend Daisy, played by Laura Linney. Through her eyes, the audience learns more than the toils of diplomacy and gets to the heart of love and friendship.
“Hyde Park on Hudson” opens in theaters on December 7.

Kanye West To Debut ‘Cruel Summer’ Short Film At Cannes no comments
Kanye West doesn’t know how to do small, so whenever the rapper unveils a new project it’s almost always on the biggest platform possible. That explains why his new “short art film,” “Cruel Summer,” will debut on the fabulous Palm Beach in Cannes, France during the Cannes Film Festival.
The hush-hush movie, inspired by the upcoming all-star G.O.O.D. Music album? of the same name, will world premiere on May 23 and remain open to the public for two days afterward. It is being screened out of competition in Cannes amid the world-famous film fest.
And, this being Kanye, the project is described as, “a fusion of short film and art installation … an immersive ’7 screen experience’ for the eyes and ears unlike anything West has attempted before.” Among those listed as starring in the film are comedian Aziz Ansari, Kid Cudi, Lebanese actress Razane Jammal (“Djinn”) and Palestinian actor Ali Suliman (“The Kingdom”). Yeezy is listed as the producer, writer and director of the effort, based on a screenplay by Elon Rutberg, who was the associate director of the Throne’s “N—-s in Paris” video. The co-director is Alexandre Moors, who worked with West on “Runaway” as well as the “Paris” clip.
Kanye and Cudi were spotted filming scenes for the movie? earlier this year in the middle eastern nation of Qatar, but little or no information has emerged about the subject matter or plot of the project. Expectations are high given the over-the-top look and feel of ‘Ye’s last mini-flick, 2010′s “Runaway.” Click here for ticket information for the screenings.

Juno Temple Casts Her Spell On Angelina Jolie’s ‘Maleficent’ no comments
Juno Temple grew up to live every little boy’s and little girl’s fantasy. Not only did she get to work with Batman in “The Dark Knight Rises,” but it was announced today she’ll be starring alongside Angelina Jolie in Disney’s “Maleficent,” playing a fairy. Meeting a superhero and living in a Disney fairy tale ? it’s the stuff that makes up childhood dreams!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Temple joins Imelda Saunton and Lesley Manville as Thistletwit, one of the pixie fairies who take care of Aurora while she’s exiled to a cottage in the woods. All three of the fanciful creatures are described as “neglectful and superficial.”
“Maleficent” is a unique take on the classic fairy tale, “Sleeping Beauty.” Jolie is playing the title character, an evil witch who casts a spell on Princess Aurora (Elle Fanning) on her 16th birthday sending her into a permanent slumber.
When she spoke to EW.com, Jolie said that though the story is told from the villain’s perspective in the film, it doesn’t cast a bad light over Aurora. “It’s not anti-princess,” she said. “But it’s the first time they’re looking at this epic woman… I hope in the end you see a woman who is capable of being many things, and just because she protects herself and is aggressive, it doesn’t mean she can’t have other [warmer] qualities.”
She continued, “It sounds really crazy to say that there will be something that?s good for young girls in this, because it sounds like you?re saying they should be a villain. [Maleficent] is actually a great person. But she?s not perfect. She?s far from perfect.”
“Maleficent” is set to hit theaters March 14, 2014 and the movie is said to begin filming this June in London.

‘Snow White And The Huntsman’ Met Kristen Stewart’s Expectations no comments
Kristen Stewart has been excited about “Snow White and the Huntsman.” Like, really, really excited about it. Every time MTV News has spoken to the actress about her first blockbuster movie since she starred in “The Twilight Saga,” she’s expressed how much pride she takes in Rupert Sanders’ theatrical debut. So when we caught up with Stewart at “Snow White’s” junket, we had to ask if the movie met her expectations. It turns out that it did.
“I was so excited,” she said about the opportunity to watch the film. “It’s rare when you see concept art, it’s always cooler than the movie ends up being. It’s inspiration, I suppose. That’s the way Rupert Sanders got the job as director, is kind of putting together this five-minute version of the movie and presenting the darkness and lightness of the world.”
As someone who got the chance to watch Sanders’ concept art video at Comic-Con last year (and is a fan of his previous work with commercials), I can confirm that the visual ideas he had for the movie were breathtaking. We get a sense of that in the trailers and clips released for the film, but it’s definitely exciting to hear that Sanders’ clear vision fully translated onto the big screen.
“I thought that it was insane because it felt like two different people did it. It was like so, so beautiful when it was light and so exuberantly happy, and then when it was dark, it was wretched, it was disgusting,” Stewart said of the concept art. “When I first saw the movie, I saw that. And I was really like, wow! Everything I wanted it to feel like, everything I wanted it to say, it’s there.”
“Snow White and the Huntsman” also stars Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth. It’s due in theaters on June 1.

Lady Gaga Cancels Show In Indonesia After Protests no comments
Lady Gaga lives to provoke and push the envelope. But not everyone is up for her antics. The “Americano” singer has been forced to cancel her sold-out June 3 “Born This Way Ball” show at the 52,000-seat Gelora Bung Karno stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia after Islamic hard-liners and conservative lawmakers said her sexy costumes, suggestive dance moves and “vulgar” style could corrupt the nation’s youth.
According to the Associated Press, a spokesperson for the national police said on Tuesday (May 15) that the permit for the show has been denied after religious conservatives worried that the concert could undermine the nation’s moral fiber. Some of the critics actually threatened to use physical force to prevent Gaga from getting off her plane. Though Indonesia is a secular state, it has the world’s largest population of Muslims and a small extremist fringe of religious leaders has been more vocal in recent years.
“She’s a vulgar singer who wears only panties and a bra when she sings and she stated she is the envoy of the devil’s child and that she will spread satanic teaching,” said Salim Alatas, the Jakarta head of hardline Islamic Defender Front (FPI), according to Reuters. “This is dangerous.”
Local police worried that they might not be able to guarantee security at the show and suggested to national police that the permit for what was to be Gaga’s biggest gig on her current Asian tour be pulled. Every seat at the Karno stadium had been sold, with half of them going in the first two hours.
The AP reported that permits for shows are typically issued three weeks before concerts in Jakarta, so it is not uncommon for tickets to be sold well ahead of receiving a final permit. Gaga’s Asian tour started last month and the Indonesian flap is not the first bump she’s faced along the road. Gigs in South Korea? were 18-and-over because conservatives in that country also raised objections over the concert’s content.
